If you want to add all the Fine Arts Events, or the Swimming and Diving Calendar, you can.

To add the  Swimming Calendar (or other calendar) browse to gustavus.edu/calendar >Click the pop-down under All Items > Select Sport > Select your sport.

When the calendar loads > Click the “Add Sport Swimming and Diving” link at the top > Click the Gustavus Google Calender Option > Click Yes, add this calendar.

After the calendar is added you will find it in your Other Calendars list.

If you would like to change the name of the new calendar to something more obvious – Click the pop down next to the calendar > Click Calendar Settings.  Then rename the calendar.

If you don’t know your WebAdvisor password, you can have it reset and emailed to your Gustavus email account.   Just click the “I forgot my PIN and need to reset it” link on the lower left side on the following pages:

How do I notice that this is SPAM?

1. Look at the subject. Confirm is spelled wrong.

2. Look at the reply-to: address. The email address is to some email yahoo.uk address.

3. It does not mention anything about our phone number. They may be able to spoof an email address, but it is unlikely they know the Technology Helpline’s phone number.

Our dual-boot classroom is located in the Olin Technology Center’s teaching computer lab. The lab consists of 9 Mac Mini’s that are running both Mac OSX Tiger and Windows XP. When you sit down at the computer, you are presented with two options: Mac OS X or Windows XP. All you need to do is click your desired operating system and voila! You will be taken to the login screen for either the Windows or OSX.

This teaching classroom was originally designed in summer of 2002 for a quiet, teaching space that could accommodate both Macs and PCs. With those older machines, we needed to have 2 computers (1 Mac, 1 PC) for each station, in a different room in order to reduce noise and heat. Although there were many advantages, there were drawbacks with that setup. If a computer froze or you needed to insert a CD/DVD or use a USB drive, you would be unable to since the computers were behind locked doors. Also, to have 18 computers turned on, all day, with older technology, was an energy waste.

Future plans include upgrading both operating systems to OSX Leopard and Windows Vista. There may even be a triple-option in the future adding a flavor of linux to the mix.

Please verify that you have applied all the available patches and updates for your computer. On Windows machines – watch for the yellow shield in the Task Menu (lower right hand corner). Click on it and apply the updates. For Macintosh users – run Software Updates.

Today, March 5th, the Gustavus Technology Helpline will be running its GAC Squad from 5:00-9:00pm in the Olin Computer Lab.

During this time, the Technology Helpline will be helping students register their computers on the wired and wireless networks and helping students with virus-related computer problems. This service does not require an appointment, however we ask that students remain in Olin while the Technology Helpline is working on their computer.
