Many Gustavus users use Webmail as their primary, or secondary email client. Navigating to the WebMail interface from the Gustavus on campus pages can take time. To quickly jump to the WebMail interface just type:

webmail.gac.edu

in your navigation bar.

print.gac.edu Maintenance

Due to routine maintenance on the print servers, print.gac.edu will be unavailable for most of the day on Tuesday, December 22nd. Users will still be able to print by selecting the “marty.gac.edu\printername” or “mcmarty\printername” printer when printing from any lab or residence hall.

Adding Other Calendars to Your Google Calendar

One of the fun features of Google Calendar is the ability to add other calendars to your calendar. There are a number of Gustavus calendars that can be added to your calendar.

If you want to add all the Fine Arts Events, or the Swimming and Diving Calendar, you can.

To add the Swimming Calendar (or other calendar) browse to gustavus.edu/calendar >Click the pop-down under All Items > Select Sport > Select your sport.

When the calendar loads > Click the “Add Sport Swimming and Diving” link at the top > Click the Gustavus Google Calender Option > Click Yes, add this calendar.

After the calendar is added you will find it in your Other Calendars list.

If you would like to change the name of the new calendar to something more obvious – Click the pop down next to the calendar > Click Calendar Settings. Then rename the calendar.

print.gac.edu Upgrade Tonight

At 7:30 PM – 8:00 PM on September 25, 2009, the print.gac.edu website will be down for upgrade. Users will still be able to print and releasing will happen automatically.

Why Windows Service Packs are important

A Windows Service Pack is a collection of security, updates, fixes and enchantments for your operating system. It is important that all users registering a Windows computer on our network has their operating system updated. Computers that are not updated with the most recent Windows Service Packs not only pose a security risk for the user, but also for every other user on our network. We like to create a safe and secure computing network for our users and keeping all the computers updated with the most recent Windows Updates is a simple and easy way to help with this.

Windows 7 coming to Gustavus

Gustavus Technology Services is currently testing Microsoft Windows 7 RTM, release to manufacturing. Initial testing has shown astounding results and overall we are very pleased with the new operating system. After some additional testing, we have plans to setup the Olin lab as one of our first labs running Windows 7.

Microsoft’s newest operating system, Windows 7, is set to be released on October 22nd. Check out one of their best operating systems yet.

Gustavus 6-year Academic Calendar

You may have noticed that your 6 year Academic Calendar has disappeared from your Gustavus Google Calendar. We wanted to let everybody know the URL to add it back. The button is at the top of the web page, and make sure you choose Gustavus Google Calendar.

Computer Lab “Maintenance Mode”

In an effort to keep lab machines up to date with the latest security patches, application updates, and virus definitions, All lab computers will go into what is called “Maintenance Mode” during their scheduled time. The lab computers that go into “Maintenance Mode” will reboot and not be available to use during this time.

Half of each lab will go into “Maintenance Mode” Monday and Thursday between 3:00am-4:00am.

The other half of the lab with go into “Maintenance Mode” Tuesday and Friday between 3:00am-4:00am.
