Last year Gustavus implemented its print accounting system. Within the system, users go to http://print.gac.edu to release their print jobs after they have clicked “Print” on their computer.
Gustavus chose this two-step process because many of the wasted paper we found were left on printers were prints that people forgot to pickup or prints they really didn’t want. This two-step process has already saved Gustavus a tremendous amount of resources. For example, since the beginning of the 2010 Fall semester 99,088 pages have already been saved! These are pages that were printed from the computer, but were never released at http://print.gac.edu. That is equivalent to a savings of: 1.23 trees, 28,074.9 hours of leaving a 60 watt lightbulb on or a cost of $7,307.85!

Impressive!
Now if only we would see that savings in the tuition…
