This recently discovered vulnerability may allow hackers to steal your password or other critical information from un-patched internet sites.

For more information please see:  http://heartbleed.com/

For information about which sites have been compromised and patched, please see: http://mashable.com/2014/04/09/heartbleed-bug-websites-affected/

This vulnerability again underscores the importance of having unique, strong passwords that you change often.  The Gustavus Single Sign On pages are not directly affected by this vulnerability.  However many popular sites have been affected.  If vendors or sites notify you of their vulnerability, and ask you to change your password, the best practice is to follow their recommendation.  Please follow the usual precaution of not following email links, but instead going directly to the web site in your browser to change passwords.

If you are concerned or suspect your password has been compromised, please change your password now.  Technology Services requires all users to change their passwords once every 12 months.
